Privacy policy

Effective October 12, 2026 · Publisher: M Arslan Asghar (arslan8122)

TidyRows uses files you choose solely to preview, clean and export CSV or TSV data. We do not receive or collect the contents of those files.

Data processed locally

File names, column headers and cell values are processed in the extension tab on your device. Files may contain personal information you choose to import; that information is used only for the cleanup actions you select. CSV contents and undo history stay in tab memory and are cleared when you close or reload the tab. Your source file is not overwritten.

Saved recipes and exported files

When you save a recipe, its name, column headers and cleanup options are stored in your local Chrome profile using chrome.storage.local. CSV rows are not saved in recipes. Exact replacement rules store the source/replacement text you enter. Recipe backups contain recipe names, headers and rules; treat them as potentially sensitive. Recipes remain until you delete them or uninstall the extension. Local recipe storage is not separately encrypted by TidyRows; use your device and browser profile protections. Exported CSV/TSV files, complete cleanup reviews, recipe backups and diagnostic summaries are saved where you choose and remain until you delete them.

Optional Pro subscriptions

Free features remain available without an account or payment: single-file cleanup, duplicate review, insights, review reports, undo, export and three saved recipes. Pro adds batch cleanup (up to 20 files, 25 MB total), ordered column-standardization rules and backup/import of a library of up to 100 recipes. The per-file limits are unchanged.

TidyRows Pro costs US$9/month or US$79/year, plus applicable taxes, with a 14-day free trial on either plan and three device activations per license. The selected plan renews automatically after the trial and each billing period until cancelled. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid a charge. Use Lemon Squeezy’s My Orders or the Manage subscription link in your receipt to cancel or update payment details. Deactivating or uninstalling the extension does not cancel billing. Cancellation normally retains access until the paid period or trial ends.

License and payment data

Checkout is hosted by Lemon Squeezy, which processes customer identity, billing address and payment information under its privacy policy. TidyRows never receives payment-card details. Activation, validation and deactivation send your license key, device activation identifier and the generic device label “TidyRows Chrome” directly to api.lemonsqueezy.com over HTTPS. The service also receives ordinary connection information such as IP address. No CSV content or recipe is included.

The extension stores your license key and activation identifier in chrome.storage.local, without separate encryption. They remain until you deactivate, forget the license or uninstall. Verification occurs at startup and before premium actions. Invalid, expired or revoked licenses cannot start premium actions. A temporary network failure pauses premium actions; reconnect and recheck. Files and saved recipes are preserved, and free tools remain available. Saved premium rules require active Pro to execute.

No tracking or CSV sharing

No analytics, ads, tracking or remote executable code. CSV processing, including batches, takes place locally. The extension does not read browsing history or other webpages. User data is not sold, used for advertising, or used to determine creditworthiness or lending eligibility.

Permissions

The storage permission saves recipes and activated license credentials locally. Access to https://api.lemonsqueezy.com/* is used only for the public license API. You select each CSV or recipe-backup file explicitly. No merchant API secret is embedded in the extension.

Diagnostics and support

The optional diagnostic download contains extension version, file dimensions, recipe count and execution context. It contains no cell values and is not sent automatically. If you choose to send a support message, its recipient receives the information you include. Please do not send sensitive CSV files.

This policy page

Visiting this webpage is separate from using the extension. Its hosting provider receives ordinary web requests necessary to serve the page, such as your IP address and browser information. This page adds no analytics, tracking scripts or forms.

Changes

This policy describes the 0.4.0 release. Any later release that changes data handling will update these disclosures.

Quick start

  1. Click the TidyRows toolbar icon to open the workspace.
  2. Choose a UTF-8 CSV/TSV file, or try the included synthetic sample.
  3. Select cleanup steps and the columns to trim. Preview, review and apply.
  4. Export a new CSV/TSV. Use Undo to restore an earlier step.

Limits: 5 MB, 50,000 data rows, 200 columns, 1 million cells, three saved recipes and ten undo steps. The first row must contain column headers. All values stay text; there is no automatic number or date conversion.

Formula protection is optional and changes formula-like values by adding an apostrophe. Review whether it fits the spreadsheet or import tool you will use next.
